Settling In

Our first photos in our new home!

This is me, Mr. Butternut. The girl always seems to have cozy blankets for me to snuggle under!

Closed Doors

Last night we planned to enter the Closed Wooden Door. Naturally, we waited until the girl had entered the room, then began scratching at the door to let her know we needed to have access to the room. After several attempts at shooing us away (she didn't think we would give up that easily, did she?), she finally relented and opened the door. After a few minutes of looking around under the bed, we made our way onto the bed and snuggled into the fluffy down comforter. The girl must have been so happy to have her kitties nearby!

Sometime during the night, I wanted to try to look out the window. As I jumped from the bed onto the bedside table, a full glass of water that the girl had foolishly put there was spilled all over the floor. Then I jumped up onto the dresser, where I found a nice MSU basketball team poster to chew up. I walked across a few jewelry boxes and CDs, to finally reach the window. It took me a few minutes of pawing at the shades before I could finally look out. Not much to see in the parking lot (the squirrels must be sleeping), so I hopped onto the desk and climbed precariously up the side of a bookshelf/mirror combo (I do love to look at myself in the mirror!). The girl had left 2 very nice paintings on top of the bookshelf, but they did not leave me much space to sit, so I gently tossed them to the floor where they would be safe. After this, the girl climbed up on the desk, snatched me from my seat, threw me out the Closed Wooden Door, and for some reason I have not been let back in since. Sometimes I think I will never understand humans!

After I heard Mr. B knock the water on the floor, I wanted to comfort the girl who adopted us, so I walked across the comforter and began nosing her hand (her hand felt so dry against my wet, slippery nose!). She appeared to be trying to pet me, so I walked to her head and began licking her face, too. She kept pushing me away (she must have been sleeping), so finally I just curled around her head on her pillow. Her nose was pushed right into my long fur, but I didnt' mind. Mr. B must have been knocking loose some dust, because I kept sneezing on the girl's head. Just as Mr. B was tossing her paintings off the shelf to safety, she picked me up (mid-sneeze!) and threw me out the door! Mr. B. was not far behind me! Sometimes I think I will never understand humans!

Our First Night

Last night, the first night at our new home went pretty well. There is a hamster in a cage who provides entertainment, there is an unlimited supply of kitty food, a clean litter box, and numerous comfy things to sit on. There is one wooden door that was kept closed, so we assume this must be the best room in the house. We plan to enter it tonight after our girl is asleep. Friday the 13th did not prove to be an unlucky day for us.

I have found an exquisite hiding spot behind the couch! I can still see out the sliding glass doors, but no one can see me!

I found that I can easily access the kitchen counters, but was sad to find there was nothing tasty for me to eat, such as butter or a nice pie. I plan to check back daily, especially as the holidays approach.

Our New Home!

This evening I was dozing in my cage in the lobby of the Humane Society, when a nice girl crouched down by my cage. She said "Oh! You ARE my cat! Look how cute you are!" I thought maybe she would take me home. She sat at the counter writing on some papers for awhile. Then she came back over, opened my cage, and started petting me! I purred and purred, hoping she would take me home. Finally the workers came over with a box, and she lifted me out of my cage and into the box. As they closed the box, I realized it was going to be quite a tight fit for me, but I was going home!

I saw a girl come in and crouch down by the cage of that big tan cat. Then she came over to my cage and said "Oh, pretty girl! You'll come home with me, too!" Then she disappeared for while, then came back and started petting me. I was so happy, I couldn't help but drool! The worker loaded me into a box, and I knew I was going to my new home!

When we got to our new home, we checked it out for the food, water, litter box, and comfy places to sleep, then we decided we would create our own blog to share with everyone our adventures in our new home! We hope you will enjoy reading about our adventures!
